Hack The Material - A Flooring Experiment is a creative cooperation between IVC Commercial and Designregio Kortrijk in the framework of the WONDER - Kortrijk Creativity Festival edition 2021. IVC Commercial stands for innovation, both in terms of material and design. Moreover, IVC Commercial puts people at the centre of its product design, which always focuses on the end user's well-being. Hack The Material offers a unique forum to give shape to this philosophy in a creative way.
The Flooring Experiment involves a design team led by Belgian designer Sep Verboom for Livable Platform analysing, rethinking and imagining vinyl and carpet with a strong focus on well-being. The result will be an artistic installation that can be admired at WONDER, the Kortrijk Creativity Festival that takes place at the Van Marcke site from 15/10 to 14/11/2021. Afterwards the Hack The Material installation will be permanently exhibited in the Flooring Development Centre, the showroom of IVC Commercial in Waregem.
Introducing the Hack The Material design team
The Hack The Material design team consists of three people: Sep Verboom for Livable Platform, Senior Designer; Isabeau Goddé, young talent designer and Amber Dewaele, young talent designer. This team can count on the support of Elise Bylo, Design Manager IVC Group and Justine Huysman, Product Designer IVC Commercial.
They were immersed in a real material bath. Vinyl and carpet no longer hold any secrets for them after intensive visits to the Belgian IVC Commercial production sites in Avelgem and Mouscron. The Flooring Experiment is now really taking shape as they work in full artistic freedom on the installation.
Senior Designer and alumnus Industrial Product Design at Howest Sep Verboom (1990°) is both a designer and a social entrepreneur. He is less concerned with the objectification of the result and more with the context in which it takes place. He is also the founder of the Livable platform.

I want to investigate how we can trigger people's imagination with this material'.
Young Talent Designer Amber Dewaele (1997°) is a Belgian designer who is often seen as someone who seeks complexity in simplicity. The narrative aspect is for her an important pillar in designing. Amber was selected for the exhibition of Designregio Kortrijk WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION in 2020.
Young Talent Designer Isabeau Goddé (1998°) works as a textile designer for Wolvis, a poetic knitwear brand, known for its limited editions of scarves characterized by unusual colour combinations and luxurious textures. Isabeau was also selected for the WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION exhibition, which will also be shown at WONDER.
