Vacancy Communications Manager April-September 2025

Designregio Kortrijk is looking for an enthusiastic communications manager to coordinate and implement all communication actions of the organisation and its projects.

Design region Kortrijk brings together talent to imagine, design and make a better future. Founded in 2005, DRK believes in the power of innovation and design to make the world a better, more beautiful, social and sustainable place. Good design goes beyond aesthetics; it is an essential tool for improving products, services and societal challenges. Working closely with partners and experts from business, education and the public sector, we have been using design and design thinking to improve both products and (digital) services and address societal issues for 20 years.

Our projects are situated within the themes of sustainability and circularity, digitalisation, social innovation and inspiration and networking.

With a team of eight we organise, among other things, innovation projects, residencies, festivals, an open makerspace, exhibitions, inspiration trips, street art parcours, networking events in which design (thinking) and designers are always our guiding principles. We work from the co-creation hub Hangar K in Kortrijk.

For the communication of all these projects, we are looking for a temporary communication manager.

Profile, you have

  • a freelancer status, but a temporary contract is also negotiable
  • interest in the world of design, shaping, creativity and product development, the creative sector and its various players are no strangers to you;
  • at least a first work experience in communications. If you have experience in event/festival communication, that is a plus;
  • experience with various communication platforms: social media (instagram, facebook, linkedin), websites, mailings, newsletters and press, but also implementation of offline communication actions;
  • excellent copywriting skills, in Dutch and English, (French is a plus) both for longer texts and social media;
  • sense for teamplaying, but can also work extremely independently.

Tasks

  • You coordinate and execute the communication of the organisation and all its projects based on a roadmap. You translate the communication needs of the project managers and their projects into effective, creative and attractive communication on our various channels.
  • You will be responsible for managing all the social media channels, website, mailings, newsletters and press and roll-out of offline communication actions.
  • A big part of your function will be the coordination and execution of the WONDER Creativity Festival's communication campaign: deploying all online and offline communication regionally and Flanders.

Praktical

The assignment starts with a 4-week handover period with communications manager Lisa Declercq, starting on Monday 14 April (negotiable). From Monday 12 May tem Friday 26 September, you will be in charge of communications for the organisation. After that, 1 week transfer runs from 29 September tem 3 October.

The position is 3/5th overall, but the months of June and September will be busier, possibly 4/5th, also negotiable. We are preferably looking for a freelancer, but a temporary contract is also negotiable. Preferably you will be present in the office during your working days (especially on Tuesdays during the weekly team meeting), an occasional home working day is also possible.
