Hack The Material: creative experiment with Ledro Powder Coatings, Blue Label and Nortstudio
With Hack The Material, we highlighted company products in an innovative way, combining creativity, experimentation and challenge.
Hack The Material is an innovative experiment where industry meets design. Ledro Powder Coatings and Blue Label teamed up with creative studio Nortstudio, supported by young talent, to present materials in an unexpected way. By combining Ledro Powder Coatings' powder-coated MDF panels with Blue Label's acoustic PET material, these industrial materials are taken out of their usual context and used in a new, playful way. The result is a visually impressive installation that invites visitors to rethink the boundaries between technology, material and design.
HACK THE MATERIAL could be visited at WONDER Creativity Festival at the Buda Factory from Friday 17 October tem Sunday 3 November 2024.
Ledro powder Coating is pioneer of the miraculous and ecological finishing method of powder coating on mdf, a material that is easily milled into all kinds of shapes. Powder coating it, creates an environmentally friendly and seamless coated surface that is very scratch and abrasion resistant. This makes it a durable choice for various interior applications such as tabletops, office and shop fitting and customisation projects. Through this project, its strength and durability characteristics and qualities are highlighted.
Blue Label optimises acoustics with sustainable, custom-made solutions. This installation uses PetFelt panels made from recycled PET bottles, known for their strength, versatile design possibilities and variable acoustic properties.
With the Hack The Material project, materials are pulled out of their everyday context by creative designers, analysed and revisited to be combined within a new, creative setting in an inspiring installation.
Antwerp-based nortstudio brings together disparate disciplines in a shared passion for craftsmanship and material experimentation. Kathleen's background as a graphic designer is reflected in her use of colour and geometry, while Jef, with a background in industrial engineering, applies his problem-solving skills to object design. Together, they create furniture and accessories in which playful shapes and striking colours balance between two- and three-dimensional design.
This project was supported by two young creative talents: Nona Van Laethem, alumna Furniture Design (VOMO) at Thomas More Mechelen & Kamiel De Brabander, Industrial Product Design student at Howest Kortrijk
