Open Call for Proposals of Artists, Designers & Makers
In 1973 the Belgian section of the E3 motorway, now E17, was completed. Intercommunale Leiedal wants to put that anniversary in the spotlight. They delve into the history of the motorway and examine the changing view of our world powered by fossil fuels and new future-proof alternatives. They want to highlight this in a special way with a number of artistic and scenic interventions from June to October 2023.
Open call
In 1973 the Belgian section of the E3, now E17, motorway was completed. Intercommunale Leiedal, the inter-local association for regional development in South-West Flanders, wants to highlight that anniversary together with various partners such as Heritage South-West, road manager AWV, Designregion Kortrijk and the local authorities. We delve into the history of the motorway and examine the changing perspective on our world powered by fossil fuels. At the same time, we explore new future-proof alternatives. We want to connect citizens, companies, policymakers and employees in a look back and forward. We highlight the busy landscape along the motorway in a special way with a number of artistic and scenic interventions from June to October 2023. The interventions along the motorway are part of a broader programme of activities during the summer.
This call is specifically about the realisation of a festival flag and landscape interventions and outlines the course of the procedure.
Beacons in the high-quality landscape
Intercommunale Leiedal is putting forward a number of strips along the motorway near industrial estates where an artistic intervention could provide added value. Leiedal provides project sheets with information about the locations. These locations are suggestions, others can be added as alternatives on the recommendation of the candidates (with the approval of the owners).
