New! Kortrijk Art
Kortrijk Art is the new association of more than 20 organisations, private and public, that programme and show visual art in Kortrijk. At the end of October, we will organise the very first Kortrijk Art Weekend during WONDER Creativity Festival.
Kortrijk Art realised a central state-of-the-art website and branding in a design by Corbin Mahieu. On the website www.kortrijkart.be or www.kortrijkartweekend.be, we present all ongoing exhibitions and art events in the city throughout the year. You will find all the information you need about what visual arts can be seen and experienced in Kortrijk on the day of your visit.
During the weekend of 27 to 29 October, we will also organise the first ever Kortrijk Art Weekend. More than 20 Kortrijk galleries, art institutions, museums and temporary exhibitions will open their doors for an intense, three-day art event. The Art Weekend creates momentum with extra focus on contemporary art in Kortrijk. There are adapted opening hours and extra activities, such as special temporary exhibitions, lectures and performances.
Kortrijk hosts a young vibrant contemporary art scene, ranging from museums, galleries and art centres to artist-in-residencies, project spaces, young and emerging initiatives and pop-up exhibitions.
All participating organisations are open throughout the weekend and share the same opening hours:
- Friday 27 October, from 4pm to 9pm
- Saturday 28 October, from 11am to 9pm
- Sunday 29 October, from 11am to 6pm
The new non-profit organisation Kortrijk Art connects the activities of its members - a selection of contemporary art galleries, art spaces and museums - and a lively pool of upcoming art initiatives and pop-up exhibition spaces from Kortrijk.
Kortrijk Art is a cultural bazooka that will attract art lovers from all over Flanders to Kortrijk. All organisations bringing visual arts have joined forces. By exhibiting at the same time, we create a great cultural momentum. I advise everyone to clear their calendar and enjoy!
Kortrijk Art is the missing link between the ever-growing group of initiatives, private and public, showing visual art in Kortrijk. The new website and the Art Weekend should help visitors from all over to discover all these places. This is just the start!
