#HVDV24 Talk: Dirk Wynants on the role of the designer in the future (May 2, 2024)
On 2 May, Flanders DC, in collaboration with Designregio Kortrijk, is organising a talk with one of the main winners of the Henry van de Velde Awards 24. Designer Dirk Wynants received the Lifetime Achievement Award. In this talk, he will elaborate on his career and the challenges of the designer in the future.

Henry van de Velde Lifetime Achievement Gold Award 24
The jury presented the Lifetime Achievement Gold Award 24 to entrepreneur and designer Dirk Wynants, for his bold vision and impact on the design world and as the driving force behind design furniture company Extremis, which is an economic success story and excels in originality and simplicity, but also in functionality and efficiency. He is a pioneer in many areas and has helped put Belgian design on the map far beyond our borders. Dirk is not afraid to jump and take responsibility. He also connects designers, for whom he is an inspiring example. He keeps reinventing himself and evolves along with today's challenges.
About Dirk Wynants
Over the past thirty years, Dirk Wynants has created a global player in West Flanders with designer furniture brand Extremis. He has developed a holistic vision, which is repeatedly tested against the changing social context. This incessant search for relevance is what drives Dirk, even when he designs for other companies. In this talk, he addresses this and focuses on the role of the designer in the future.

The event will take place at the Residentie Budalys in Kortrijk.
A ticket costs 20 euros. Students can participate for free with the code FREE_FOR_STUDENT. Registration is mandatory.
You will receive a copy of Between the lines, annual magazine #6 of Flanders DC or a publication of the Henry van de Velde Awards 24 (worth 10 euro). You choose either when registering.
