5X5® Bilbao is looking for 2 designers!
At the beginning of this year, Designregio Kortrijk started collaboration with the city of Bilbao with the 5X5® project.
With 5X5 Bilbao we want to match 5 companies from the region of Bilbao with 5 designers. Each company starts with a challenge, in one year we want to evolve from idea to product/service.
For this project with Bilbao, 2 of the 5 companies will be looking for a Flemish designer. The other companies will be matched with designers from the Bilbao region.
Timing
Ideally, we start the creative process around October 2024 and finish October 2025.
At the start we organize a joint (physical or online) kick-off meeting where we get to know the other cases and designers during this event; and hold an initial exploratory brainstorming session. At the end we focus on a product launch and exhibition, the exact dates of which are not yet determined, but we aim for October 2025.
Budget
Within the 5X5 framework, we work with a fixed fee for the designers of €10,000 incl VAT.
There is also a travel voucher of €1,500 incl VAT.
Procedure
With each company, we first draw up a longlist of designers. In consultation with the company, this list will be reduced to three designers. We then organize intake interviews with these three designers. In these interviews we look at the personal click, affinity with the project, relevant skills, enthusiasm, and what commitment the designer can make within the available budget. After the interviews, we choose one designer, with whom we conclude a cooperation agreement.
Challenges and profiles
- UX/UI design: we are looking for UX designers who can redesign an existing application and give the existing team tools to base their future designs on.
- Product design: thinking along on a new industrial product from concept to possible business strategy.
