15.03 Vernissage - expo bikkelen
Bickering. Who remembers this game? A frantic clique of visual artists approaches the theme of Memento - Play - the same way: by grabbing it, throwing it and catching it. The expo opens with a vernissage on March 15, 2024 and runs until March 31, 2024.
Each artist has their own spin on the theme, and yet each work, each banter ultimately lands on one fist: the hand of Kliek Frank. Because notwithstanding the wide range of styles, the expo also depicts the beating heart of this group: togetherness and dialogue. Solidarity playing birds. The exhibition - like the clique - is both playful and serious. Recognizable but also challenging.
THE COLLECTIVE
The collective currently consists of Larissa Viaene, Flore Deman, Willem Moreel, Xavier Truant, Shanna Coppens, Toon Delanote, Astrid Verplancke, Klaas De Baere and Lara Jakoba Breine.
For this exhibition, Lara collaborates with Lien Anckaert.Kliek Frank's roots are in the West Flanders clay. This group of visual artists found each other in Het uitzicht der dingen, a project on the occasion of the 150th birthday of Stijn Streuvels. The shared studio exposed a lack: dialogue with other artists. Thus their temporary workshop became a space where they laughed and played, discussed each other's work, but above all a place where they connected with each other. Today, Kliek Frank is a close-knit group. Together they explore the balance between perfectionism and "je m'en foutism" in visual art. They give each other space to experiment beyond their own artistic practice. They are friends. Playboys. Ambitious artists.
