WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION exhibition
Discover the designers of tomorrow
WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION showcases the next generation of Belgian design talent.
Every year, Designregio Kortrijk and its partners seek out the most promising young designers from Belgian creative design education programmes. This year, a jury selected numerous projects, ranging from architecture to product design and from graphic design to game design.
The six winning Ecodesign award final projects will be included in the WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION exhibition.

A new generation of thinkers. Dreamers. Doers. Designers.
In a world that rushes, shouts and rubs, these young designers offer a counterbalance. They ask critical questions about how we live, produce and consume. They design for the long term, with a focus on reuse, well-being and humanity. Not with grand gestures, but with meaningful interventions. For many, circularity is no longer an ambition, but an automatic response.
What is striking is that they look close to home. In their own stories, in residual materials that would otherwise be forgotten, or in the environment in which they grow up. And yet they also look further afield. Each project demonstrates commitment, imagination and craftsmanship. This is not a generation that waits, but a generation that does things differently. In the selected projects, you see no uniformity, but a shared consciousness. This new generation wants to make a difference and knows that you do that by starting small. By linking beauty to commitment, and material to story.
Welcome to WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION.

With thanks to the jury members:
Jutter Lannoo (set designer WATNG - 019), Marie De Keersmaecker (graphic designer WATNG), Hera Van Sande (JUNO architects and artistic director Archipel), Marie-Amélie Cnockaert (urban design architect), Siel Gybels (Intercommunale Leiedal), Pieter Billiet (Atelier Toekomst), Tine Poot (Flemish Architecture Institute), Annelies Thoelen (Expertise Centre Design), Mies Van Roy (Flanders DC), Erik Desombere (Erik Desombere Studio), Christian Oosterlinck (Flanders DC), Giel Dedeurwaerder (designer), Steven Dehollander (Pilipili).

For We Are The Next Generation 2025, 019 is designing a boardwalk that brings the projects together in a single landscape.
So no classic layout, but a playful and circular whole in which projects enter into dialogue with each other and with visitors.
The walkway invites you to look, slow down and discover. Exactly what this generation of designers asks of us.
