Start Lab: Starting in Design
Are you a start-up designer creating and selling your own products or offering services such as graphic design, interior design, product or service design? Want to know more about the design landscape and learn how to successfully start and grow your business? Then register for Start Lab Design on September 23 in Kortrijk. This event is organized by Flanders DC in collaboration with Designregio Kortrijk.
As a start-up designer or entrepreneur in the design industry, there are many challenges. How do you set up a smart pricing strategy? How do you tackle your sales? Where do you find clients and how do you build your network? How do you communicate your company, product or service as effectively as possible? This event offers you the chance to find answers to these questions, surrounded by a community of like-minded people traveling the same path. Get inspired and motivated to turn your creative dreams into a successful business.
Program
General introduction
During the presentation ‘Starting in design’, you will get a fascinating introduction to the world of design and entrepreneurship from Tom Suykerbuyk, Design Coordinator at Flanders DC. You will learn about the key building blocks for a business in the design sector, so you can make decisions for your business with more confidence!
Workshops
After the general presentation, you can participate in the following workshops:
- Pricing: Here you will learn how to set the right price for your services or products to increase your profitability and make your business sustainable. This workshop will be led by Simon Gryspeert, Lead Entrepreneurship & Innovation and advisor at Flanders DC.
- Sales: You will learn how to develop a successful sales strategy, as well as how to effectively sell your products or services. This workshop will be given by Sander Spolstoel, freelance motion designer and animator. After 16 years with his company Swörl.be, Sander can testify like no other about different approaches to sales, and will share how he approaches getting more orders today.
Personal advice sessions
You will have the opportunity for a personal consultation with one of Flanders DC's advisers. You can discuss your specific challenges as a starter in detail and go home with valuable feedback and concrete tips to strengthen your business.
Networking
Meet other start-ups within the design sector, learn from each other's experiences and make valuable contacts that can also help you in the future. Join our community of passionate designers and get inspired by their stories and successes.
