Talk Inclusive Design from Detroit
Bonnie Fahoome, Co-Executive Director at Design Core Detroit, will - at the invitation of Designregio Kortrijk - give a talk on inclusive design at Hangar K on Friday, May 23. Register now!
Detroit, in the US state of Michigan, was once known as the car city, with big names like Ford, GM and Chrysler. After difficult years with economic problems and fewer residents, the city is now coming back all the way. There is a real creative and cultural revival underway, with much attention to design and urban renewal.
So in 2015, Detroit was awarded the title UNESCO City of Design, as was Kortrijk. One of the people playing an important role in this is Bonnie Fahoome, Co-Executive Director at Design Core Detroit. She tells us how inclusive design - designing with consideration for all - can make a difference in businesses, education, health care, housing and the way we design cities.
With Design Core, we believe that leveraging inclusive design among businesses, government agencies, non-profits, academics, institutions and community stakeholders leads to a better, more equitable and resilient Detroit for all.
