Designers in Residence 2022: Cornershop of Daydreams
The Designers in Residence Kortrijk program, organized annually by Designregio Kortrijk, is proud to announce the book of research and final results of edition 2022!
Every year, Designregio Kortrijk invites recently graduated designers from different creative disciplines for the Designers in Residence Kortrijk program. During a 3-month residency (September to December), three selected designers get the unique opportunity to develop an experimental concept, through confrontation between citizens, society, entrepreneurs and education in regions like Kortrijk. With the Buda Island as a hub in Kortrijk for a fascinating community of creative individuals, businesses, cultural organizations, creative education and end users. The goal is to connect with the local manufacturing industry, largely embedded in this region and local producers in a contemporary way. The Budafabriek and BUDA::lab are the inspiring locations where they create, work and live.
CORNERSHOP OF DAYDREAMS – Scenographers of cumulative and collective deviance
The Cornershop of Daydreams is a project by artists Metincan Güzel, Yun-Chu Liang and Ila Colley and is realised as part of Designregio Kortrijk’s international residency programme for young designers. The Cornershop of Daydreams acts as an agency that sets the scene for moments of collective dreaming. It is a contextual vehicle for the designers to explore how daydreaming can disrupt our daily life.
