Open Call: TransFormMakers wanted

Not every design starts with an idea. Sometimes it starts with a machine, a waste stream, or untapped potential...

TransFormMaker is a co-creation process in which young designers collaborate with manufacturing companies from the Genk–Hasselt region to address a specific challenge from their day-to-day work:

  • a material that remains underutilized
  • a production process with untapped potential
  • technical expertise seeking new applications
  • ...

You will be paired with a manufacturing company and, throughout the process, work together to analyze their context and possibilities, develop new directions and concepts, and finally test and translate these into a prototype.

You will work independently but will be supported by an experienced designer acting as a coach.

What’s in it for you?

  • Experience with real-world collaborations in the manufacturing industry
  • Insight into materials, production, and scale
  • A process that allows you to delve deeper into the substance of your work
  • A tangible result (prototype, concept, or application)
  • Visibility through exhibitions and communications
  • A €3,000 budget (fee + production)

Who is this for?

For designers who:

  • have graduated within the last 3 years (or have an equivalent background)
  • are interested in making, materials, and collaboration
  • are capable of critical and inquisitive thinking

All disciplines are welcome.
