Open Call: TransFormMakers wanted
Not every design starts with an idea. Sometimes it starts with a machine, a waste stream, or untapped potential...
TransFormMaker is a co-creation process in which young designers collaborate with manufacturing companies from the Genk–Hasselt region to address a specific challenge from their day-to-day work:
- a material that remains underutilized
- a production process with untapped potential
- technical expertise seeking new applications
- ...
You will be paired with a manufacturing company and, throughout the process, work together to analyze their context and possibilities, develop new directions and concepts, and finally test and translate these into a prototype.
You will work independently but will be supported by an experienced designer acting as a coach.
What’s in it for you?
- Experience with real-world collaborations in the manufacturing industry
- Insight into materials, production, and scale
- A process that allows you to delve deeper into the substance of your work
- A tangible result (prototype, concept, or application)
- Visibility through exhibitions and communications
A €3,000 budget (fee + production)
Who is this for?
For designers who:
- have graduated within the last 3 years (or have an equivalent background)
- are interested in making, materials, and collaboration
- are capable of critical and inquisitive thinking
All disciplines are welcome.
