Henry Van De Velde Awards 24 - our local winners!
Last Tuesday, the annual Henry van de Velde Awards were presented. The awards are considered one of our country's most prestigious design awards and every year we eagerly look forward to seeing who gets to take home the coveted prizes.
Dirk Wynants, the master behind Extremis, received one of the most important awards: the Lifetime Achievement Award. Dirk is a pioneer in many fields and has helped put Belgian design on the map, far beyond the country's borders.
On May 2, he will bring his inspiring insights to Kortrijk!

And that's not all! JUUNOO, Alcatraz Metal Festival and Erik Desombere also shone with their gold creations at the #HVDV24 awards.
JUUNOO received the Ecodesign by OVAM Gold Award for their modular wall system with height-adjustable steel modules, promoting sustainability in the construction and office market.
At the Alcatraz Metal Festival, wheelchair patients are given an intense festival experience using VR glasses, thanks to 360° images of the moshpit. The innovative use of VR, praised by the jury, shows the potential of technology within social issues.
Erik Desombere not only won gold within the Graphics category, but also received the Audience Award! His project Letters To Measure are typefaces developed from logo designs.
