Projection mapping on Kortrijk City Hall

During WONDER 2025, the town hall on the Grote Markt will be transformed every evening into a magical canvas full of colourful visuals. Since 2017, Kortrijk has been part of the global UNESCO Creative Cities of Design network, where we share creative ideas and inspiration. The friendly design cities inspired the final-year students of the Devine-KASK bachelor's programme at Howest in Kortrijk. Be amazed by a spectacular creative light show! Urban Mapping provides the perfect technical support.

Workshops

During the festival, 154 young people had the opportunity to colour the town hall using projection mapping.

During the various projection mapping workshops organised by Quindo, young people had the opportunity to colour the town hall of Kortrijk. They discovered how this innovative technology works and learned how images and animations can be projected onto buildings.

After a brief introduction to the technique, they got to work themselves in a digital drawing programme and created their own projections. One group opted for an analogue approach and made the design with pencil and paper. These drawings were scanned and, like the digital designs, could be projected onto the façade of the town hall.

The results of these creative workshops were on display on 28 October 2025 during Wonder. It was a showcase event where the young people's work was projected for everyone to see. Below is a video that takes you back to that special moment. A project in collaboration with the Devine programme at Howest.
