ON/ART presents three groundbreaking multimedia projects at the WONDER Festival in Kortrijk
Within ON/ART, the cross-border initiative run by Designregio Kortrijk and Le Fresnoy, artists are given the opportunity to develop new forms of digital media art at the intersection of art, technology and experimentation. By fostering collaboration and the exchange of knowledge between creators from Flanders and northern France, ON/ART contributes to a growing community of media artists in the border region.
During the WONDER Festival, ON/ART will present three innovative installations that translate contemporary themes such as participation, ecology, technology and collective imagination into immersive experiences for a wide audience. The works are the result of a cross-border project in which artists, organisations and experts from Flanders and Northern France share their expertise, infrastructure and networks to develop new forms of media art.
With ‘Shared Ground’, Belgian artist Bram Lattré invites visitors to walk through an ever-changing digital landscape. Beneath their feet, a dynamic interplay of light, movement and traces unfolds. As more people take part, the landscape continues to transform. The installation explores how we collectively occupy, share and shape space.
Lattré is a light artist and creator of immersive installations centred on light, data and creative technology. His work straddles the fields of light art, interactive media art, video mapping and spatial design. Using sensors, projections, real-time systems and light, he makes digital images tangible within the space. For Shared Ground, he translates landscape imagery into an interactive point cloud on the floor. As visitors walk through the installation, they leave temporary traces behind, transforming the work into a sensory exploration of shared space, movement and presence.
In *Sourcing*, the French artist Miguel Miceli focuses his attention on the invisible electromagnetic fields that permeate our living environment. The sculptural installation translates signals from the environment into light, movement and sound. A mechanical antenna detects electromagnetic activity, whilst a floating light source and a layered soundscape transform the space into an experience that is both poetic and disorientating. Miceli invites visitors to view the world from the perspective of other life forms and raises questions about the impact of technology on humans and nature.
With *Géographie des Origines*, the French artist Fabien Zocco explores the boundaries of geological time and speculative science. The work takes its cue from the concept of Pangea Proxima, a hypothetical future supercontinent which, according to geological theories, could emerge over hundreds of millions of years. Using artificial intelligence, generative processes and digital fabrication techniques, Zocco creates an installation comprising a sculpture and generative video imagery. The result is a fascinating reflection on humanity’s place within the Earth’s immense timescale and the role of technology in our imagination of the future.

Through these three installations, ON/ART demonstrates the versatility and relevance of contemporary media art. The works combine technological innovation with artistic imagination and invite visitors to become an active part of the experience. They form part of ON/ART, a cross-border initiative that brings together artists, organisations and experts from Flanders and Northern France to share knowledge, experiment and explore digital media art.
Until 8 November 2026, the WONDER Festival offers a unique journey of discovery through design, technology, art and innovation in Kortrijk, a UNESCO City of Design. Visitors can explore 22 venues where creativity, experimentation and innovation come together. You will find the three installations at the OVERKOP venue, Groeningestraat 20, Kortrijk.
ON/ART is a cross-border project by Designregio Kortrijk and Le Fresnoy, the internationally renowned production and training centre for digital and audiovisual arts in Tourcoing. The project is being realised with support from the Interreg programme France-Wallonia-Flanders and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
