An image is only successful for me when it conveys the right atmosphere. It has to suck the viewer in, as if he imagines himself in another location for a moment. What are the most important ingredients to create such an image? First and foremost, the framing. Determine what contributes to the atmosphere and what does not. Less is more. Then, of course, an image must be technically perfect and structured in an attractive way.
In my opinion, a mediocre image cannot be made fantastic by post-processing. However, I do believe that post-processing of an already strong image can produce a great image. It contributes to the atmosphere and theme in which the image was made.
