WÜNDER presents its latest collection, The Lounge, at KIOSK

This summer, come relax at Wünder’s The Lounge. For their presentation at KIOSK, the outdoor design brand was paired with designer Victor Verheyden. The centerpiece is The Lounge, Wünder’s latest modular seating concept, set amid a sea of swaying grasses.

The Lounge was designed by Wünder, the Belgian outdoor design brand committed to quality, sustainability, and local craftsmanship. The company develops and manufactures its collections in Belgium, collaborating with local artisans. With a focus on timeless design, sustainable materials, and a locally rooted production chain, Wünder creates outdoor furniture designed for long-term use.

This spring, they presented their latest outdoor seating collection, The Lounge, at the Milan and Copenhagen Design Weeks. The Lounge is your ultimate outdoor retreat—an inviting nook where comfort and nature come together. With its generous cushions, you can sink in to relax, daydream, or simply enjoy the fresh air. The design combines a sleek steel tube frame with soft, inviting cushions upholstered in durable outdoor fabrics. Thanks to its modular nature, various configurations are possible, while the rounded shapes create a contemporary and airy look.

For this installation, Verheyden started with a simple question: how do you present outdoor furniture in a pavilion in the middle of the city? His answer was not to display the collection as a separate object, but to bring the environment for which it was designed indoors.

The centerpiece is The Lounge sofa, placed on a raised platform and surrounded by a field of tall grass. Carefully positioned fans keep the grass constantly moving, as if it were outdoors. The wind thus becomes a visible part of the installation, bringing rhythm, life, and a sense of the outdoors to the pavilion.
The grass evokes the fields and grasslands so characteristic of the Belgian landscape. By bringing this familiar image to the center of Kortrijk, a subtle tension emerges between city and countryside, between architecture and nature. A fragment of landscape seems to have temporarily found its way to the KIOSK. This unexpected transposition also contains a subtle reference to the Belgian surrealist tradition.

The installation reads like a carefully framed image. The furniture is part of a scene that does not so much show what Wünder makes, but rather what the brand designs for:
moments of tranquility, connection, and time spent outdoors. In this way, the collection becomes not only visible but also experiential. Due to the constant movement of the grass and the carefully chosen color palette, the image is constantly changing. The installation invites passersby to pause for a moment, look, and let their minds wander. In this way, the KIOSK will become a recognizable landmark on the Graanmarkt this summer.
