Open Call

Designregio Kortrijk is looking for 3 highly motivated and recently graduated designer-makers or creative artists to join in a regional residency in Kortrijk, Belgium.

It is a 3-month full time working residency from September to December 2018. Designregio Kortrijk provides for the selected Designers in Residence Kortrijk:

  • accommodation
  • usage of Budalab Open Makerspace & Bolwerk Workspace
  • experts in several domains and support of Designregio Kortrijk
  • one-time travel expenses

This year's theme is: 'Discover the Next Space'
Spaces that heal.
In-store shows.
Hospitality in hospitals.

The 3 young designers develop an experimental concept for the future of spaces, through confrontation between citizens, society, entrepreneurs and education in regions such as Kortrijk.

Additionally, during the Biennale Interieur from 18 to 22 October 2018 the Designers in Residence Kortrijk will be offered a unique opportunity to show their research and on-going progress to an international audience.

Déborah Janssens is part of the creative team at Object Interview
Portuguese Maria Pita Guerreiro is doing another Design Residency at Ílhavo, Aveiro for Vista Alegre.
Meanwhile Sahil Thappa is teaching in The National Institute of Design (NID) and taking courses on open source innovation, making, digital fabrication and sustainability.

Guillaume Morillon is Conceptual Designer at Extremis, the innovative SME of Dirk Wynants, with headquarters in Poperinge! And he moved to our Eurometropolis, Lille.
Katharina Sofie Kraus went to Germany to work as a Interior Architect & Project Manager at LAY InnenArchitekten.
Catherine Oldershaw is Experience Designer at MAYA, a digital design and innovation lab in Pittsburgh, USA.

The Italian Antonio Carratù is Industrial Product Designer at Sebra Interior that designs decoration and furniture for children in Denmark.
Robin Andersson returned to his beloved China, more specifically to Shanghai where he works as a Product Designer at Neuni Group.
Lucie Barouillet is Product Designer at design firm Arup in London.
